Councilwoman Bridal moved to approve the lowest qualified bid and to authorize the controller’s office to return bid bonds to other bidders; Councilman Constance seconded. CEDD staff explained the current approval covers three properties — two on Hanover and one on Carrier — and that the demolition program has a total of 10 properties in various stages of completion. "So we total of 10," staff said when summarizing the program status.
The mayor and other council members thanked staff for securing grant extensions that allowed the city to proceed with promised demolitions. Staff noted one site is scheduled to close on August 4 and that additional sites are moving to bid as DTE and other utilities clear prerequisites. The motion carried unanimously.
