Facilities report: shade structures and classroom upgrades complete; girls' locker-room roof repair estimated at $19,000
Summary
Facilities staff said several winter-break projects were finished — shade structures, a kindergarten kitchen and multipurpose room — while High Desert School roof work was delayed by rain. A girls' locker-room leak needs a full roof repair estimated at $19,000 and will require board approval; phone-system upgrade options will return in February.

Facilities staff told the subcommittee that several projects were completed during winter break, including shade structures at Damascus High School and upgrades to the kindergarten 'Little Owls' kitchen and a multipurpose room.
Staff said one roof at High Desert School remained pending because of rain. A separate, more urgent item was a major leak in a girls' locker room; staff estimated a full roof repair would cost $19,000 and asked that the board approve funding and vendor selection in a future meeting. “It’s gonna cost $19,000 to do that whole roof,” the facilities speaker said.
Staff also said classroom emergency communications are uneven: “Right now, some of the classrooms have phones, and other classrooms are utilizing walkie coffees for emergency purposes,” and presented three upgrade options—copper lines, a hosted/cloud phone service, and fiber—saying staff will bring quotes for board review in February.
No formal vote took place; staff identified the $19,000 repair as a future board approval item.
