Traffic study finds county criteria not met; district to post crossing-guard job

At the meeting, district staff summarized a traffic engineering study conducted by L.A. County Public Works and said a review of CHP collision history for a five-year period ending 07/31/2025 found no reported collisions at Wisconsin Street and Sacramento Avenue. Staff told the committee the county concluded crossing-guard criteria were not met for that intersection and therefore would not provide a county crossing guard.
Because the district still has local concerns about pickup and drop-off at Meadowlark, staff said they created a crossing-guard job description adapted from other districts and will bring the item to the board agenda for review and approval. "If and when it's approved, then we can go ahead and post and try to get somebody there physically and then provide the necessary training they need," staff said. Community members reported some relief from changes on Soledad but continued congestion and turning maneuvers on Wisconsin; volunteers and local groups were offered as possible stop-gap assistance while the district posts the job.
