Commissioners approve $912.72 county portion tax abatement for resident with medical issues

Marcy (auditor's office) presented a low-income abatement request on behalf of Ryan Porter for Parcel 03093-0068. Marcy said Porter's income was above the usual threshold but that he had medical issues and documentation; the county portion of the requested abatement was $912.72. "His income is above the let out the level, but he has some medical issues that he would like to be approved to get the county's portion of the abatement," Marcy said.
Porter told the commission he withdrew from his 401(k) to survive and has had no earned income since March 2024 because of an immune-deficiency condition. Commissioner Vincent moved to approve the abatement as described; Commissioner Perry seconded. The commission voted 'Aye' and the motion carried.
