County seeks DNR motorized grants, trail relocations and trestle-bridge work

County forestry staff told the committee they are applying for DNR motorized program grants due April 15. Applications include a Mandatory Trail Relocation of 0.9 miles in Drummond with estimated work of $38,000, and an application for roughly 3.5 miles of new ATV trail in Barnes intended to convert an existing snowmobile-only section to dual use after engaging landowners.
Staff also reported they have been cleaning up GIS trail layers to ensure accurate mileage for DNR maintenance payments and noted work with a bridge inspector and engineer to prepare an RFP or a design-to-build bid for the 18-mile Trestle Bridge. The department said it will submit the motorized grant applications by the DNR deadline.
