Trustees unanimously authorized administration to publish the district’s required notice of a public meeting to discuss the budget and proposed tax rate. Chief Financial Officer Courtney Reeves walked the board through required notice components, proposed rates and the statutory publishing window; if approved the notice will run between May 24 and June 13 and the public hearing is scheduled for June 23.
Reeves said the district projects a modest net reduction in its total tax rate for fiscal 2026–27, describing a decrease in the maintenance and operations (M&O) rate from 0.80220 to 0.79540 and an overall drop in the total rate presented (from about $1.03955 to $1.03275). She also explained required comparisons and the new taxpayer‑impact statement now required under recent legislation. "This notice ... is an important part of our district’s commitment to transparency," Reeves said. Trustees asked for additional cost estimates and agreed the district will post the notice in the statutory timeframe.
