On Jan. 20 Reading City Council unanimously suspended the rule requiring second and third readings and adopted Ordinance 2026‑06, which amends prior authorization for temporary, seasonal and part‑time employees. The motion to suspend the rules passed on a 7‑0 roll call; the subsequent adoption vote also passed 7‑0, and the ordinance was recorded as Ordinance Number 2026‑06.
Council member Mr. Bronner moved to suspend the rules and Mr. Boehner seconded; Mrs. Kroeger then moved to adopt the ordinance and Mrs. Eadicicco seconded. Council gave unanimous support and declared the ordinance adopted as an emergency to allow immediate hiring under the revised authorization.
