Police retirees to receive a 0.47% COLA effective April 1, 2026, board says

City Clerk Melissa Burton reported at the Feb. 5 Joint Pension Board meeting that "The change in the St. Louis Metropolitan CPI for 2026 is 2.36 percent." She said that, under Municipal Code Section 200.490, the pension plan sets COLA at 20% of the CPI change, which yields a 0.47% increase to eligible police retiree benefits effective April 1, 2026.
Burton also noted the Police Plan's funded status: per the FY2024/2025 GASB 67/68 report the Police Plan funding level is 56.27 percent. She reported that one retiree will receive a retroactive COLA based on 11 years, with a total retroactive payment of $385.66.
