They also reported a recalled generator component (a pin) and said replacement parts are expected to arrive in September so the vendor can perform on-site replacement.
The presentation noted an employee injury last fall as a major challenge, but staff said the employee is expected to recover and that contingency spending has not been excessive. Staff flagged typical construction risks, such as archaeological finds during earthwork, but said overall progress is steady and they will continue to report schedule and budget updates to council.
Councilors asked about the likelihood of early completion and were told the project is roughly one-third of the way through the 30% construction milestone and that early completion is unlikely at this point, though staff remain optimistic about keeping the schedule.
