Resident raises road-maintenance and park water concerns during public comment

During unscheduled public participation, resident Mark Foyen described multiple roadway safety and maintenance concerns and urged proactive maintenance.
Foyen told the board that vehicles parked close to the pavement on Union Brook and at the end of Union Street narrow the roadway, create plow hazards and reduce clearance: "This is dangerous for motorists. It's dangerous for pedestrians." He requested the town reclaim right-of-way clearances, enforce towing where needed and clean ditches that are causing washouts. Foyen also urged the board to revisit the long-standing "big dip" on Union Brook Road and to consider placing yellow centerlines.
Another resident reported the Memorial Park water spigot/fountain was not working; board members noted the fountains are shut off in winter but agreed to investigate and repair the fountain so camps and park users have reliable drinking water. The board moved into executive session later in the agenda to discuss contracts with the manager.
