New Norwich commandant, resident Mark Denton, offers partnership with Northfield

Mark Denton, a recent retiree who accepted the role of commandant of cadets at Norwich University, introduced himself to the Northfield Select Board and said he and his family recently moved into town.
"My wife and I and our 4 kids are new residents, here in Northfield," Denton told the board, adding that two of his children will attend Northfield High. He described his career in the military and said returning to Norwich "is my dream job," offering the university as a partner for local projects and programs: "If there's anything that we can do to partner on or to engage in, don't hesitate to ask."
The chair and other board members welcomed Denton and noted that board members and school staff had already assisted with the family's transition. Denton said he would remain available for questions and would attend briefly after the meeting if anyone wanted to follow up.
