Police chief reports partial installation of Flock Safety cameras; remaining units scheduled

Police Chief Mike Broadwell updated the Board on the Flock Safety camera program the city approved at its planning retreat: eight license-plate-reader (LPR) cameras and five pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras were authorized. Broadwell said five LPR cameras have been installed to date and the remaining three LPR cameras plus all five PTZ cameras are scheduled for future installation.
During his presentation, Chief Broadwell reviewed the approved camera locations, progress on installation and the program’s purpose and intended operational uses, including capabilities and limitations. The update reiterated that the system’s deployment was consistent with the prior authorization and that staff will continue the remaining installations according to schedule.
