City staff notified the Board that Havelock has been selected to receive an AV-8B Harrier (BuNo 165427), the aircraft that completed its final flight during the June 3 Harrier Sundown Event and is painted in a commemorative Marine Corps color scheme. Staff presented three restoration options and associated estimated costs: Option 1 — Clean and Clear Coat, $120,628; Option 2 — Touch-Up and Clear Coat, $141,610; Option 3 — Full Repaint, $205,706. All options would require funding a concrete pad for placement.
After discussing refurbishment, transportation and mounting options (concrete slab versus pillar-style installation), the Board directed Interim City Manager Cindy Morgan to gather additional cost and transport estimates, and to explore whether the A-6 Intruder’s existing display pad in Pensacola could be used to host the Harrier instead. Staff also was asked to pursue potential outside funding and return with recommendations at the July 27 meeting or in August.
