Board directs bids for overflow parking as property sale nears closing

Staff told the Board that, following acceptance of a $150,000 purchase offer for the property at 820 Fontana Boulevard, staff has been evaluating alternative sites for overflow parking at the Recreation Complex. An internal assessment identified the existing lot used for the City’s annual Trunk-or-Treat as the best location for expansion, with preliminary estimates indicating it could accommodate about 82 parking spaces.
To deliver options and limit disruption to recreation programming, staff proposed advertising bids with a paved base bid and a gravel alternate; staff also presented alternatives that would repave or mill an adjacent area and extend it to add 25–30 additional spaces. The Board provided direction to seek bids for paving the purple area, laying ABC aggregate, repaving/milling the green area, and exploring extension to add the 25–30 spots.
