County awards professional appraisal services for NRCS EWP buyout program

Lincoln County commissioners approved awarding RFP 26-02 for professional appraisal services to WT Appraisals, Inc., with Rachel A. Krieger recommended for appraisal review services. Nick Morerod, CPO, said five responsive proposals were received and the recommended firms were selected following evaluation. Manager Jason Burns noted appraisals for the NRCS Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) buyout program will aim to establish pre-disaster property values and that process complexities may arise for disaster-impacted properties.
Commissioner Tim Prather asked about the number of buyout applicants; Manager Burns said about 250 property owners had signed up so far for the program. Commissioners moved to award the contract to the recommended firms; the motion carried on a unanimous roll-call vote. Burns also said some contract terms and process clarifications could be discussed in executive session and that staff would consider a public presentation on the appraisal process for commissioners.
