The Lincoln County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously April 22 to approve Bonito Volunteer Fire Department’s purchase of a used rescue truck for approximately $176,000. Robbie Hall, representing Bonito VFD, said the vehicle has low miles and would help the department split resources to improve response across its large coverage area. Chair Mark G. Fischer and commissioners approved the purchase during the action-items portion of the meeting.
Commissioner Mikel Chavez asked about vehicle use and funding; Hall said the purchase would be paid from Bonito VFD funds, including state fire funds. The motion to approve was moved by Commissioner Chavez and seconded by Commissioner Sema and carried on a unanimous roll-call vote (Yes = 5). The Commission did not place additional conditions on the purchase during the meeting.
