Officials warn IDOT notice could cut motor fuel tax funding; county prepares for mediation in highway negotiations

Prestegaard said a reduction in that funding "could be reduced his wage or termination" for a particular position if funds are cut.
State's Attorney Dan Markwell said he had "left a message with the author of the notice from IDOT but had not received a return call" and said he hoped to have an update by the full board meeting on Thursday. Separately, County Administrator Dee Rentmeister reported that highway department employees had requested mediation; Claro Carter suggested a finance representative attend negotiations, but Markwell cautioned that a board member's attendance could jeopardize negotiations if a comment were perceived as agreement.
The minutes do not record any formal decision on the IDOT notice or mediation; Prestegaard said he expected an update at the full board meeting.
