Finance committee presses for better oversight of credit-card receipts during claims approval

During the committee's review of claims on Dec. 16, committee member Claro Carter asked about documentation for credit-card claims, saying "someone needs to oversee/look at the receipts." County Administrator Dee Rentmeister responded that "all of the receipts are attached to the credit card issued to her" and said department heads and elected officials will be asked to attach receipts to claims going forward.
The committee discussed several vendor entries: a claim listed to Advanced Services was clarified as payment for medical care for inmates rather than meals; Heart charges covered "3-4 months" of service; a charge to Quadient represented postage. After discussion the committee approved the claims by voice vote.
