Resident calls $10,000 fines-and-fees study "a waste of money" at DeWitt County Board meeting

Robert Kreitler used the board’s public-comment period to criticize a November motion to spend $10,000 on a county study of fines and fees. "I feel as a taxpayer it is a waste of money," he said, and told the board he was able to find several other counties' fees — including Champaign, Piatt, Macon and Logan — in about 30 minutes.
The board did not take action in response to Kreitler’s remarks during the meeting. The comment appears alongside routine agenda business, and no motion to rescind or modify the earlier November authorization was recorded in the Dec. 19 minutes.
