Plain City staff proposes new council‑managed zoning fee schedule to replace code‑embedded figures

Village staff (S2) proposed restructuring how zoning and development fees are adopted: instead of fixed fee amounts embedded in the code, staff recommends a council‑approved fee schedule that can be updated annually without a code amendment. Staff said many fee figures in the code have not been updated since 2008–2016 and that commonly used residential permit fees could be lowered while some development fees may increase.

Planning & Zoning has reviewed and approved the restructure and staff plans to return to council in May for a public hearing and first reading. Council discussed how the schedule would be administered and confirmed that the change is intended to avoid lag time between market changes and fee updates.
