City flags November fire levy; staff to refine capital and staffing needs

The procedural steps outlined were: Committee review of needs; Council authorization to request a millage estimate from the County Auditor; return to Council to authorize a ballot submittal and a 90‑day lead time to the Board of Elections. “This needed to be put on the agenda tonight for the Committee to think about,” Chafin said.
Chief Bob Lindner said he had begun capital planning and that staff would present five‑year capital needs and staffing scenarios to inform a millage request. Committee members asked staff to return with a specific recommended millage, estimated revenue, and clear explanations of what the levy would and would not fund before any ballot authorization.
