Kasia Burinska (S9), project manager and registered architect with Walker Consultants, outlined a façade stabilization and roof replacement package for Peaks Hill Plaza Apartments, a 168‑unit affordable senior housing complex. She said the project is in bidding and that ownership hopes to award a contract in the first week of June and complete the work “within ideally 9 months to a year.” Kasia emphasized safety as the primary priority and detailed proposed repairs including stainless‑steel helical ties, targeted brick replacement, repointing, parapet rebuilding and a 3‑ply SBS modified bitumen roofing system.
Board members focused on material matching and requested on‑site mockups for brick and mortar so the board can confirm an appropriate match with adjacent materials. The board conditionally approved the certificate of appropriateness for the proposed scope, with the clear instruction that no final C of A would be issued until the board’s site visit confirms mockups and chosen materials are satisfactory.
