Board approves raised-letter sign for 15 North Division

Mark Dietrich (S6) said he designed 3D ABS letters and a narrow wood board to hold them so the letters clear a 1.5‑inch molding on the facade, explaining the tradeoffs between smaller letters and unsightly long standoffs. “The facade is like 1.5 inch thick,” he said, and described the board as a way to let the letters “float over that particular facade.”
Board members debated whether this should be treated as a sign band and discussed scale and visibility from the street. Several members said the proposed solution is an acceptable compromise for this unique storefront and moved to approve the application as presented.
