Torrance County accepts $574,653 NM DOT grant to resurface Appaloosa Road

The County approved Resolution 2024-36 to enter into a grant agreement with the New Mexico Department of Transportation for Transportation Project Fund Control No. HW2LP50062. Grants Administrator Amanda Lujan told the Commission the project would cover a 2.4-mile section of Appaloosa Road from Abrams Road to Charlie Breckenridge Road and recommended a three-inch asphalt overlay to improve the surface. "It will start at Abrams Road and go to Charlie Breckenridge Road. It would be a three-inch overlay to improve the road," Lujan said.
The grant totals $574,652.85; the county will provide a 5% match of $30,244.89 for a project total of $604,898.00 with a termination date of June 30, 2027. Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the grant and authorize county staff to execute the agreement.
