Quick Grow LLC’s appeal of a Planning & Zoning denial for a proposed commercial greenhouse at 70 Akin Farm Road was continued to allow the applicant to supply technical documentation that neighbors and commissioners said was missing. Applicant representative Feng Ping Chen told the Commission that, in response to earlier concerns, "we will not do hoop houses; hoop house operation is eliminated," and that the application would instead use enclosed metal warehouses. He estimated maximum daily water use at about "8,000 gallons" per day but said that amount could be lower once plans are finalized.
Residents and ranchers testified that local wells have shown stress in recent years and urged a hydrological study and enforceable mitigation plans. Commissioners urged written commitments on setbacks, engineered filtration and enforceable site details rather than oral assurances. The board agreed to continue the public hearing to the next regular meeting so county staff and counsel can work with the applicant to draft specific, enforceable permit conditions and to give neighbors time to review submitted technical materials.
