The Knox County Board on April 29 approved the county's bid awards for health, life, dental and vision insurance for 2026–27 and adopted the FY 2026–27 budget schedule. Vice-Chair Brian Friedrich said the county will move to a self-insured plan and that the maximum incremental county cost would be $3,834 to be covered from the Tort Fund; he told members employee health premiums will remain the same. Treasurer Robin Davis said employees who complete a wellness check by June 1 will receive a $30 premium discount.
The board also approved the claims against Knox County for March 26 through April 29, 2026 in the aggregate amount of $2,085,259.02. Member Kramer moved to approve member per diem and mileage claims and county claims; roll-call votes were recorded and motions carried.
Vice-Chair Friedrich and Treasurer Davis offered to provide more detailed premium figures for the vision option once the vendor confirms rates; no employee contribution increases for health were imposed at the meeting.
