Peekskill and county negotiate prisoner-transport agreement; police recommend limited-hours amendment to 15-minute parking

Chief Renwick briefed the council on two police-administration items. First, he said negotiations with the Westchester County Department of Correction are progressing toward an intermunicipal agreement in which the county would assume responsibility for prisoner transport to scheduled Peekskill City Court appearances while Peekskill would continue limited transports when county personnel are unavailable; reimbursement terms and budget-line setup will be presented once terms are finalized.
Second, Renwick described a business-owner request to limit a 15-minute parking restriction on Welcher Avenue to 6 a.m.–6 p.m., seven days per week, to improve customer access. He estimated the zone covers about four to five spaces; council members supported the change and asked staff to pursue the limited-hours amendment to administrative regulations.
