Mountain-biking advocates ask Peekskill to study designated Depew Park trails

Representatives of the Westchester Mountain Biking Association (WMB) asked the council to authorize a feasibility study to identify designated mountain-bike trails in Depew Park and to explore educational programming and safety protocols. A WMB speaker said the group is a registered 501(c)(3) and noted the association and local coaches could support youth programming and trail maintenance.
Local coach Ralph (self-identified) described volunteer-run practices, basic-skill instruction, trail etiquette and maintenance work the club does and said Depew would be a better beginner venue than Blue Mountain for some youth. City parks staff said the next step would be joint information gathering with risk management, DPW and public safety and public input before any change to city code; council members asked staff to return with a study and recommendations.
