Torrance County certifies 2024 general election results

Torrance County officials certified the Nov. 5, 2024 general election results at the Nov. 13 commission meeting after the county canvassing board reviewed tabulator tape totals and the bucket summary that includes hand tallies and provisional ballots.
County Clerk Linda Jaramillo told the commission the county received 875 absentee ballots (828 returned), including 17 UOCAVA ballots for uniformed overseas voters, and conducted 1,155 in-person early votes at the County Admin building plus 2,731 early votes at the Moriarty Civic Center. On Election Day the county recorded 2,507 votes at polling places and processed 445 same-day registrations across the early voting period. Jaramillo said all precinct tapes matched the secure server results and that the county's post-election checks found no discrepancies in totals. The commission approved the canvass by roll-call vote.
Commissioners praised elections staff for handling a heavy early-voting schedule and the same-day registration workload. Clerk Jaramillo noted a small issue where three absentee envelopes lacked a return address but said the county isolated the ballots and nearly all were returned.
What was certified: the county canvass report and vote totals for federal, state and local contests and constitutional amendments as recorded in county results. The certification will be forwarded to the Secretary of State per statute.
