County Manager Jason Burns told commissioners the preliminary budget did not include recurring funding for Sheriff vehicle replacements this year. Burns said department managers planned to use other funding sources—one manager purchasing from separate funds and another repurposing equipment funding—but that vehicle requests would be returned to the Commission for consideration with the final budget.
Commissioners debated treating vehicle costs as recurring expenditures in future budgets; Chair Mark G. Fischer said he wanted to work toward including vehicles as recurring costs each year to stabilize replacement planning.
