Board adopts district and school-specific comprehensive safety plans for 2025–26

The board on Feb. 26 adopted the districtwide comprehensive school safety plan on second reading and also approved site-specific safety plans for Vasquez High School, High Desert School and Meadowlark Elementary School.
A district representative described the plan's scope: "The comprehensive safety plans primarily cover policies that have been adopted by our board, of course. Topics also covered include child abuse reporting as mandated reporters on campuses, discipline procedures adopted by the board as well as the school site. It also outlines emergency preparedness and responses including incident command, who post the incident command, the search and rescue teams, reunification, etcetera for each respective school site as well as our district office." The policy and management subcommittee had recommended approval; trustees voted to adopt the plans on second reading.
The site-specific plans were attached for review as part of the second-read adoption; the board also approved the School Accountability Report Cards that accompany site reporting requirements. The plans and SARCs were posted as attachments to the meeting materials for public review.
