The commission approved ordinance 6-29, which modifies the county annexation policy to exempt two application types from city annexation requirements: zoning map amendments submitted with ag protection area applications, and agricultural subdivisions that split a single‑family dwelling from a farm parcel.
Scott Lyons explained the exemptions are intended to avoid requiring property owners in unincorporated areas to seek city annexation when the split property already has utilities and the request is limited to ag protections or a single‑family split. Commissioner Vincent moved to approve the amendment and Commissioner Perry seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
