Commissioner Joslyn Dalton reviewed seniority-calculation language from other cities and volunteered to create a table and step-by-step instructions to clarify years-of-service calculations, including half-years. The Commission discussed distinguishing between percentage and point adjustments and agreed to define them as "Percentage Points" that are added after the final exam score.
Meeting minutes note: "Make it clear that it is 'Percentage Points' and they are added after the final exam score is given." Commissioners also agreed to specify a passing grade of 70 percent for relevant examinations. Dalton said she will draft revisions to Section 10 – Rule VI for review at a future meeting; Secretary Pae will research how the rules appear in the Charter and City ordinances before any legal review.
