Margaret Watson, a resident of Bald Creek Road and a board member of the Quail Cove Property Owners Association, told the board that part of Quail Cove Road "became a river during the storm" and was left so eroded it could not be driven on, isolating homes. She said the neighborhood already submitted the county's road-and-bridge assessment request and asked the county to allocate public disaster funds to help offset the "massive cost of repairs."
Rodney Smith of Bald Creek added that temporary culverts and a one-lane, temporary road system are drawing heavy visitor traffic and buses, creating safety and access concerns. "I don't feel like that our road needs that kind of pressure during this time," Smith said, estimating "3 to 400 cars" on peak days. Board members encouraged residents to file FEMA claims with photos and receipts and said county staff would follow up on DOT and private-road questions.
