Wren said the individual-assistance program can provide up to $42,500 to people whose homes were destroyed and that rental assistance and SBA loans are also available. He urged registrants to protect their FEMA registration number and to resist callers asking for that number, describing denial letters as part of a recoverable process that often reflects incomplete application details rather than final denials.
"Someone who applies may get something called a denial letter. That does not mean the process is over," Wren said. "It just could be something on the application that was not filled out correctly. Stay in the fight. Keep going. We're gonna be here to support you guys." Wren provided the online registration site (disasterassistance.gov) and a FEMA contact number included in his remarks.
