Council Member Kent Wade raised ongoing concerns about stormwater ditches and the city's policy on homeowner responsibility during the July 1 meeting.
Wade said he has repeatedly raised stormwater and ditch maintenance issues for several years and asked for a policy that would provide enforcement and action for property owners who do not maintain ditches or culverts. City Attorney Jeff Deane told the council the city can perform repairs and bill the homeowner under the existing city code. Chief Mathies was asked to work on a policy to support enforcement. The council also listed multiple draft policies for further review, including a camping regulation ordinance, revised parks and pool provisions, a company vehicle use policy, solicitor/canvasser rules, cereal malt beverage and alcoholic liquor articles, landlord registration (rental ready program), parking articles and a proposed social‑media policy.
