The La Cygne City Council on July 1 approved Resolution No. 491 to submit a one percent citywide sales tax question to qualified voters at the Nov. 3, 2026 general election.
Mayor Debra Wilson and council members reviewed language stating the 1% sales tax would pay for certain public infrastructure projects and would replace the existing sales tax originally implemented for construction of the swimming pool and park improvements. Council Member Ed Smith moved to approve Resolution No. 491; Council Member Robert Sullivan seconded and the motion passed 3-0. Mayor Wilson invited council members to staff an information booth during the July 11 "Blast in the Park" to answer voter questions about the measure.
