Friendsville discusses sidewalks, pavilion costs and youth programs as grant work continues

City Administrator Kim Rogers updated the board that sidewalk construction has begun on North Farnum under a grant and that grant funds could be used for flashing lights, reflective crosswalks and paving where the sidewalk abuts pavement. She told the board some sidewalk grant money could be applied to sidewalks at the pavilion site pending LPRF administrator approval.
The planned pavilion was considered too expensive in its current design; parks contractor Darrell Nitzschke has met with an Amish contractor to explore more affordable, non-metal options. Parks & Recreation reported Tee-ball and 'Wittle Weague' programs are scheduled to begin next week with 112 children signed up.
