Vice Mayor Jonathan Newberry told the board that heavy trucks traveling on South Farnum are damaging pavement and causing material to slide downhill across from the church. He said drivers appear to be ignoring the posted 10-ton limit and that he had observed trucks from several companies using the route. "I didn't know if they could do anything to discourage the big trucks since they didn't obey the 10-ton limit signs," Newberry said.
City Attorney Rob Goddard responded that the city could send letters to the companies to ask drivers to avoid the route. The board did not adopt a formal ordinance or set an enforcement action at the April 2 meeting; the transcript records informal direction to pursue voluntary outreach to the trucking companies.
