Friendsville schedules replacement of lead and asbestos water lines on several streets

City Administrator Kim Rogers used the staff report to list several planned capital projects to replace lead and asbestos water lines in Friendsville. The minutes name the locations targeted for replacement: Lane Drive to S. Union Grove; Lane Drive from Finn Long to Highway 321; East Third Street to the water tank; East College to Front and Spring streets; and the stretch from the three-way stop at North Farnum to the second entrance to Disco Loop. Rogers said, "There are several smaller lines feeding larger lines that need to be upgraded in the system, due to an increasing number of new homes."
Staff also reported that seven customers remain to be hooked up under the HUD sewer grant; once those connections are complete, Foothills Paving will repair roads affected by the sewer work. No timelines or dollar amounts for the replacements were specified in the minutes.
