City administrator says SRF assistance for grinder pumps would be a loan, not a grant

At the April 2 meeting of the Friendsville Utility Board, City Administrator Kim Rogers reported that State Representative Tom Stinnett had been working with the state to secure Tennessee State Revolving Fund (SRF) assistance to pay for sewer grinder pumps. Rogers said the board had learned the SRF option would not be a grant. "I found out that it was a loan, not a grant, and would have to be paid back," Rogers said.
Mayor Steven Cardwell and Vice Mayor Jonathan Newberry were present during the exchange. Rogers told the board she intended to thank Representative Stinnett for his efforts but that the city could not take on a loan for the project at this time. The report was informational; no formal vote or direction to staff was recorded on pursuing SRF financing.
