State PHP offers MCI trailers to locals; partners list trainings and conferences

At the White Pine County Local Emergency Planning Committee meeting on Jan. 29, 2026, Olivia Mitchell reported that State Public Health Preparedness is "transferring ownership of MCI Trailers to locals" and encouraged jurisdictions to send requests to her or Amos.
Mitchell also flagged planning items and events: a potential restock of equipment tied to the trailer transfers, an update to the Medical Search plan, and the Rural Preparedness Summit in Elko June 11–12. Partner Kammy Kinkade outlined training opportunities and conferences for the spring and early summer, including the NEPA Conference (Feb. 9–11), a Basic Academy in Las Vegas (March–May), a Fire Adapted Summit (Feb. 23–24), and the VOAD National Conference in Reno (May 4–7). Jeff Winrod said Great Basin College is reaching out to campuses to build local relationships.
The committee did not take formal action on the trailer transfers at the meeting; staff asked jurisdictions to submit written requests for equipment or restock needs so the county can coordinate with state contacts.
