The city commission held the second and final public hearing on Ordinance 33-07, which would vacate and abandon a platted alley and easements directly east of 519 East 6th Street. A resident, Walter P. Henry, spoke during public comment to ask whether the alley closure would affect access near local landmarks and cameras: "Nobody never answered this question. Is this will y'all just close this alley?" he asked.
Staff clarified the alley's location and that it is not near the rescue mission; commissioners then entertained a motion to approve the ordinance. Mayor Branch abstained to avoid the appearance of impropriety because his family is involved with the property; the motion passed 4 to 0. City attorney read ordinance language adopting Ordinance 33-07 (vacating the alley; providing severability and effective date). The ordinance will be filed with the city clerk per standard procedure.
