Council approves up to $25,000 to replace controls in three traffic signal boxes

Service Director Joe Borczuch told council that three traffic control boxes installed in 2007 have reached end of life for their internal controllers and the manufacturer has declared the controllers obsolete. "He would ask that Council approve a requisition in the amount of $25,000 to Signal Service," Borczuch said, noting nine total boxes exist in the city and estimating costs of roughly $7,400–$8,500 per unit depending on mains or controllers.
Council moved to approve a requisition to Signal Service for repairs to the three traffic boxes at Usher/Bagley/Brookside, Bagley and Lewis, and Sprague and Columbia in an amount not to exceed $25,000; the motion carried by poll (7 ayes; 0 nays). The Service Department reported about 350 tons of salt on hand and that one city truck was in the shop pending diagnosis.
