Resident asks for machine-readable budget files; superintendent clarifies UPK funding limits

Resident Scott Klaudfelter told the board he is asking for budget data to be published in spreadsheet format—both raw data and any pivot tables or filters shown in the PDF version—so families can analyze parts of the budget that matter to them. "I'm asking that it be provided in spreadsheet format, both the raw data and any pivot tables or filters that are shown on the PDF version," he said.
Klaudfelter also asked whether an additional $1,400,000 had been allocated by the governor after the district adopted its budget. Superintendent Gavin responded that the district did not receive an additional $1.4 million after adoption; he noted there can be funding left based on UPK (universal prekindergarten) counts because the state budgets for an expected number of UPK seats but districts can access only the money for the students they actually provide services to. Gavin offered to double-check and report back.
Trustees acknowledged the request for machine-readable budget documents and asked staff to follow up so the public can better analyze line items.
