Sheridan County moves toward final review of emergency operations plan, eyes cross-state mutual-aid MOU with Bighorn County

Emergency Management Coordinator Jesse Ludikhuize told the Board on March 23 that the updated Sheridan County emergency operations plan (EOP) will receive a final review and approval at the upcoming Tuesday meeting and then will be presented to local town councils, a step required to secure certain federal funding.
Ludikhuize also described a proposed cross-state mutual-aid agreement with Bighorn County, Montana, to formalize shared resources and operations; the MOU will come to the Board for approval before being forwarded to the state attorneys general for final signatures. He said FEMA-related delays have slowed coal seam mapping work, but staff expect to finalize the award agreement within a few months to proceed with mapping and associated planning.
No formal votes were taken at the March 23 staff meeting on the EOP or the MOU; actions remaining include local council presentations and final institutional signoffs required for federal grant eligibility.
