Remediation work begins at Brickyard site; city to seek Brownfield reimbursements

Public Service Director Matt Hiscock explained the project funding: "the entire Remediation Project ultimately was to be paid for by the Brownfield grant awarded to the City in the amount of $2,100,000." Hiscock described that the Brownfield award is a reimbursement grant administered by the Medina County Port Authority and that the city will submit initial costs for reimbursement as the project progresses; turnaround for reimbursement could be one to three months depending on State review.
The committee received no public comment. Staff reported substantial completion is targeted for the end of September 2026. The item remains a funding and construction update; no council action was taken at this meeting.
