Soil and Water District reports watershed work, offers state and federal soil-health grants

Sara Gronfeld, Administrative Manager for the Soil and Water Conservation District, updated the Traverse County Commission on watershed projects and available grant programs.
"Septic Upgrade Grant funds are still available," Gronfeld told the board while reporting that the Bois de Sioux–Mustinka Plan is awaiting construction of a second grade-stabilization project and that engineering design work is underway for three projects under the Upper Minnesota River Plan.
She described ongoing field work: tree planting installation is complete, mid-contract mowing and establishment/weed control continue, seeding is in progress, and district equipment such as a no‑till grain drill and tree shearing services remain available. Gronfeld highlighted available Soil Health Grants including state and federal funds for cover crops and strip‑till/no‑till and other conservation practices.
The Commission received the update; no formal votes were recorded on grant authorizations during the meeting.
