Commission approves $111,325 bridge payment, culvert contract and updates highway schedule

Traverse County commissioners on June 3 approved a series of highway bills and contracts, including final payment of $111,325.45 to Structural Specialties for Bridge project SAP 078-598-038.
County Engineer Chad Gillespie asked the Board to approve the payment and the commission adopted it unanimously upon a motion by Kayla Schmidt, seconded by Dwight Nelson. "Gillespie asked for approval of final payment for the Bridge project SAP 078-598-038 to Structural Specialties for $111,325.45," the minutes record.
The board also approved an updated Highway Fee Schedule (motion by Mark Gail, seconded by Chad Metz) and accepted a quote from JB Nanik, Inc. for CSAH 16 culvert replacement for $65,412.00 (motion by Dwight Nelson, seconded by Mark Gail). Those actions were recorded as unanimous approvals.
Gillespie provided scheduling details for the department: roadway projects are set to start June 9, 2025; a preconstruction meeting for County Park Projects is scheduled for June 4; and a public auction of surplus highway items is planned for June 9–18, 2025 on MinnBid. He also noted the City of Wheaton LRIP bid opening is June 9 and that MnDOT District 4 supplied a five-year plan to the Board.
The approvals complete contract close-outs and set the county’s summer construction and procurement timeline.
