Traverse Care Center reports Medicare billing approval, board approves layaway bed changes

Chris Knoll of Minnewaska Community Health Services told the board that Traverse Care Center currently operates 44 beds with five beds on layaway and requested permission to layaway four additional beds (bringing layaway to nine) while maintaining a licensed bed count of 35; the board approved the request unanimously (3-0).
Knoll reported Minnewaska received its Medicare number and can bill retroactively to January 2024. The organization has applied again for Critical Care Access Funding after a prior change in management interrupted eligibility; the Department of Human Services had not yet responded to the current application, Knoll said.
